Tomi Laukkanen

I’m Tomi Laukkanen, a recent MA graduate of the Royal College of Art's Design Products department. Before starting my studies here in London, I completed my Bachelors Degree in Lahti Design Institute (LUAS) and a degree in cabinet making, both of which have given me a strong base to build my career and design know how on.

I enjoy solving complex problems by conducting careful research always aiming for sustainability with a passion for using the right technology and suitable materials. My work is characterized by creative concepts and detailed and finalized end products.

Over the years my work has covered many fields ranging from the design of small objects as furniture to architecture, interior and city planning, from craftsmanship to industrial scale. In product design, my strengths lie in the ability to think of objects as parts of their architectural environment with the user and functionality in the central focus. I’m accustomed to working in interdisciplinary teams when tackling broad problems.
